About Us

Truth. Diversity. Inclusivity. Accessibility. The Power of Oral Storytelling.

With each tour, we preserve the darker side of Hamburg’s history, illuminating the past so each guest can better appreciate the Hamburg of today.

About

HH-Tours started with a dream to offer tours differently.

Nearly 10 years ago, HH-Tours began as our founder’s dream to create tours that felt different from the standard scripted experience.

HH-Tours focuses on the darker side of Hamburg’s history, not as a gimmick, but to preserve real stories from the city’s past that are often glossed over or completely left out of the average tour or history book.

Unlike many tours, ours are not scripted. We invite guests along for a conversational journey through the heart of the city, revealing secrets hidden just beneath their feet.

There is a hunger for this kind of storytelling, and our reviews prove it.

Who We Are

The people behind HH-Tours

Founder

Jenny Bergmann

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Jenny moved to Germany over a decade ago after marrying her favorite Hamburger.

After falling in love with the city and its history, she began working as a freelance tour guide. Over time, she grew frustrated repeating the same scripted tours while discovering more and more lesser-known stories hidden throughout Hamburg’s streets.

That frustration eventually became inspiration. Jenny created HH-Tours to offer something more immersive, conversational, and story-driven without scripts.

Following the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, Jenny began rebuilding HH-Tours with the support of Sara Josallene “SJ” Hejduk and Gabriel Nehrbass, expanding the company with new routes and new ideas.

Director of Operations and Strategy

SJ Hejduk

Originally from Kansas, SJ met Gabe while studying Intercultural Studies in college. The two shared a longtime dream of living abroad, but after getting married, they spent years building a life together in the United States.

Before joining HH-Tours, SJ worked in public health grant administration, where she managed large-scale projects, funding coordination, and operational planning. Much of her work centered around communication, storytelling, and connecting people across very different backgrounds and experiences.

As political and financial uncertainty began threatening both of their careers, SJ and Gabe ultimately decided it was finally time to pursue the life they had talked about for years.

Project Manager

Gabriel Nehrbass

Gabe brings research, planning, and project coordination experience to HH-Tours. Before moving to Germany, he worked in research development at a public university, helping support academic projects and large-scale initiatives.

He has always been drawn to history, storytelling, and the ways culture shapes how people understand the world around them. That interest eventually became part of the foundation for helping rebuild HH-Tours alongside Jenny and SJ.

Today, Gabe helps support both the operational and creative side of HH-Tours, helping transform ideas, research, and stories into experiences guests can genuinely connect with.
